Ecuador:

NGO: COAGRO
Project: Vegetable gardens and rearing of small animals
Funding Awarded: 5,130 €
The NGO COAGRO, Equador, received funding to develop organic vegetable gardens and the rearing of small animals (guinea pigs and chickens). Those activities will benefit 80 families of vulnerable persons and help them to survive through the pandemic (the flower enterprises, where the majority of people worked were closed down). The sale of the products will be facilitated by agro-ecological fairs, which are organized by the NGO in the region.

Bolivia:

NGO: CHIJMU
Project: Irrigation
Funding awarded: € 6,000
The peasant community (220 persons) of Chijmu was seeking funds for irrigation with a view to making possible two harvests every year. This will prevent forced emigration in case of drought and teach students to cultivate family vegetable gardens. The villagers will help to build the irrigation system with pipelines and tanks. The global project I co-financed by other donors.

Ecuador :

NGO: COAGRO
Project: Native pastures for dairy cows
Funding awarded: 5,500 €
The Ecuadorian Foundation COAGRO (Cooperacion per la Agricultura Organica) was seeking funds in order to plant native herbs in pastures for dairy cows and to plant trees for reducing carbon production and drawing water. The beneficiaries will be two associations of women (40 persons). It is aimed at increasing the quantity and the quality of milk and thus to increase by more than 30 % the revenues of the beneficiaries.

Haiti:

NGO: CEFREPADE
Project: Converting of waste
Funding awarded: € 4,500.00
CEFREPADE (French Ngo for recycling wastes) seeks funds in order to create, for poor young people, a workshop of craft from wastes. By this way, they will do artistic and useful products through use of wastes (plastics and so on). There is a market for such products .
This project has been partly financed thanks to an occasional donation

Haiti:

NGO: SOSFBP
Project: Purchase of a mill
Funding awarded: € 5,000.00

The project consists in installing a motorized mill to transform corn and another local variety of cereals which are locally produced.
Ground cereals is the most popular and basic Haitian feed; the new mill will help the local population to improve their production and increase their income.


NGO: Jeune Corail
Project : Providing a school fishing boat
Funding awarded: € 5,000.00
Jeune Corail operates in the Northeast of Haiti where many fishermen – very often orphan – do not receive any training. JC has implemented a maritime schooling to train them in fishing, shipping and products conditioning. eu can aid! had already financed a wood school-boat to improve the courses and give fishermen the opportunity to put into practice the theory learned. It is a matter today of financing a second boat.  This project has been financed thanks to the generous donation of AFILIATYS

Haiti:

The applicant wants to offer young people the opportunity of acquiring technical skills in electricity and by that getting job’s chance. Frère Armand Franklin is seeking funds to acquire equipment to improve the teaching quality and impact.

NGO: JEUNE CORAIL
Project: Shipping and fishing school
Funding awarded: € 7,500

Jeune Corail operates in the North-East of Haiti where many fishermen – very often orphan – do not receive any training. JC has implemented a maritime schooling to train them in fishing, shipping and products conditioning. The first session has already been organised and JC is now seeking for a wood school-boat to improve the courses and give fishermen the opportunity to put into practice the theory learned.  This project has been financed thanks to the generous donation of AFILIATYS

Argentina:

NGO: Huerta Nino
Project: Organic school garden
Funding awarded: € 3,820

Huerta Nino wants to create an organic garden in a children school. It will allow consistent vegetable production to feed the children during the school time. In the long term, the project will be self- sustaining and able to produce its own seeds and will encourage the integration of rural children.

Ecuador:

NGO: COAGRO
Project: Yogurt and cheese production
Funding awarded: € 7,340

The association has already received help from ETM for creating a milk production. The new project submitted aims at improving the productivity by preparing as well other dairy products such as yoghurt and cheese. Our partner association COAGRO wants to help 30 women from the community of Tupigachi, who live in very poor conditions, to develop the production of cheese and yoghurt from the milk of their cows. This would enable them to adapt the existing small dairy and buy the equipment needed to make and sell their products. This project would allow the women to add much more value to the milk from their cows and thereby increase their families’ incomes.

Nicaragua:

Project: Construction of a school
Funding awarded: € 3,500

In 2012 eu can aid!’s Committee agreed to provide funding of € 7,000.00 for the construction of the school. The payment was to be made in two tranches of € 3,500.00. A first tranche of €3,500.00 was paid immediately and the second one has been awarded after reception of the update report stating the progress of works.

Peru:

NGO: LAGWA
Project: Hygiene and clean water in Collique
Funding awarded: € 5,000

Collique inhabitants have hardly any access to clean water. The only water source is a weak spring located in the village. Hills in the neighbourhood are their only toilet, which generates big pollution problems.
LAGWA wants to install 25 dry toilets to help 25 families to improve their hygiene. 3 wash basins will be also set up. In a second phase, LAGWA plans to install some shower cabins. Labour will be provided by LAGWA and € 5,000 is requested from eu can aid! to cover the installation costs.


NGO: Communidad Campesina de Rancha
Project: Access to drinking water
Funding awarded: € 7,800

The current water distribution system in the Chimpapuquio community (250 families) is deficient due to a geological fault. The local population gets water in contaminated wells and does not have enough water for irrigation (very low rate) for fruit crops and small livestock. The project includes the construction of a power supply system and a water tank for water treatment.
ETWA Munich (€ 8,000) and ETW The Hague (€ 6,000) will also support this project.

Encouraging basic hygiene practices
Many of the diseases that affect those living in the developing world can be contained and/or prevented through basic hygiene practices. In this project, eu can aid! has helped fund a project to provide 365 families served by “Timoun Byen Vini St Paul” center with access to communal showers, wash basins and latrines.

This project envisages making lasting improvements to the hygiene-related behaviour of the inhabitants of the Grand’Anse department. It includes hygiene training through an information campaignat different levels (radio, posters, schools, events) and the construction of 20 latrines

Mexico:

Project: Waste processing
Funding awarded: € 2,800
Waste recycling and income generation
This involves giving marginalised families living in the slums of Oaxaca City (southwest Mexico) the possibility to convert their waste to a source of lasting income. The promoter is requesting funding to create 30 composting kits to transform organic waste into fertiliser and sell it on the local market. 30 families would benefit. The amount requested from the eu can aid! was € 7 945.

Building a school

Every child deserves the opportunity to gain a basic education. In this project, eu can aid! provided funding for a project to build, equip and maintain a school on the island of Omepete, Nicaragua. The school will provide 50 – 80 children between the ages of 3 – 12 years, all from impoverished families, with an education.
